"There are no shortcuts to any place worth going."

Progress (not only in music) cannot be made without practice. I do not like to nag and bug my students to practice. In addition to wasting valuable lesson time, it takes away from the fun and enjoyment I wish to have as a teacher, as well as the fun and enjoyment I wish for my students to have as musicians. There needs to be a commitment from both the student and the parent(s) that best efforts will be made to find sufficient time between lessons to practice and prepare. A portion of the lesson time is devoted to the structuring of practice sessions in order to make the best use of your time and efforts. One basic concept to remember is that six 20-minute practice sessions or four 30-minute sessions during the week are far more beneficial than two 60-minute sessions.
